The History of Spot Group

Our business started life way back in 1955 when Derek and his father opened a filling station and roadside cafe on he site of our Fiat dealership on Milford Common. It was some time before we ventured into he world of new car sales and when we did it was in 1963 when we became a Ford dealer. In 1972 Ford fell by the wayside and we switched to Chrysler Talbot and remained so until our change to Fiat came in 1982.

At the same time just a few miles down the road in Chasetown, Bob was developing a business which was originally a Nissan dealership. It changed to Fiat in 1985, and finally to Citroen in 1991. Bob owned two other dealerships in Walsall and Coventry which he sold in January 1986 and this event led him to open discussions with business collegue Derek with a view to merging their motor businesses, and this they did a couple of months later.

A marriage made to last?

Bob and Derek felt that a merger of their two successful businesses would enable a stronger, larger financially sound business to compete more successfully in a rapidly changing 1980's car market. The Diahatsu franchise (pictured below) was established in July 2007 to run alongside the Fiat site at Milford.
